About Ebor Morris

Ebor Morris are a Morris dancing team from York in North Yorkshire. We perform dances from the Cotswold tradition, including the lesser known Horsham dances, and a traditional Yorkshire longsword dance from the nearby village of Escrick. We have been entertaining audiences in York and further afield since 1974.

We perform Cotswold style morris dances from a number of traditions including Adderbury, Brackley, Bampton, Bledington and Horsham. Click here to see our full repertoire.

We are also proud to perform the traditional Escrick Longsword Dance from a village just south of York - in the early days we were privileged to meet one of the schoolboys who performed for Cecil Sharp when he came on his collecting visit in November 1912.

We practice on Monday nights between October and May from 20:30 to 22:00 in the Scout Hut, Bad Bargain Lane,

Heworth, York, YO31 0QZ click here for a map.

Between mid May and mid August we perform in Kings Square, York, every Monday evening. We also have the occasional away day, sometimes as guests of other morris teams, and we host a Day of Dance in York every June.

The money we collect when we dance out pays for costume, equipment, practice hall hire, and other related expenses.
