Why not have a go at morris dancing?

Morris dancing is a great way to meet new friends, get some exercise, keep tradition alive, and generally have fun.

Newcomers of all ages are always made welcome, as long as you're presenting and living as a man and are aged 18 or over.


You can come along with no prior experience, and no commitment, so why not give it a try? We have members from a 20 mile radius around York from a wide variety of professions and ages.


There are no membership fees, and we supply the specialist kit items of bells, baldric, and sticks.

We practice on most Monday evenings between mid October and mid May in the scout hut on Bad Bargain Lane, Heworth,

York, YO31 0QZ between 8:30 and 10pm. After practice we head for a local hostelry, the Waggon and Horses in Lawrence Street, to socialise and rehydrate.

From mid May until mid August we dance in Kings Square in York every Monday starting at 7:45 pm, then head off to a local hostelry when the light fades.
